Our Physical Therapists incorporate multiple treatment approaches to make sure your injury is rehabilitated in the most efficient way possible. We incorporate different hands-on manual approaches including joint mobilization/manipulation, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, dry needling, blood flow restriction, and strain-counter-strain. These manual therapy techniques pair well with our corrective exercises that our Certified Athletic Trainers will take you through to reach your functional goals.
We gladly serve patients of all ages. Our therapists are fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese to better serve our patients.
Post Concussion Therapy and Vestibular Therapy
We have Physical Therapists who have worked as Athletic Trainers and have treated concussions for many years. These Physical Therapists specialize in return to work/competition by working on the specific challenges that concussions present such as, visual difficulties with tracking and conversion, balance, physical exercise difficulties, and even vertigo. Some treatments could include dry needling for headaches, visual exercises for convergence and tracking, and cervical manual therapy to help clean up all symptoms.
Manual Physical Therapy including joint mobilizations, soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, and manipulation are used to address limitations in mobility. Our Therapists and Certified Athletic Trainers will also give you functional exercises to improve strength and correct movement patterns. It is important to get the post surgical site moving as soon as possible (according to surgeon protocols) to assure proper mobility and strength is reached. If not, then limitations will present themselves down the road and will affect you in your daily life. Our Therapists will work with you each step of the way after your surgery to make sure we are safely improving your situation.
Our Physical Therapists have had internships and jobs with Washington Lee High School, Virginia Tech, Radford University, Marymount University, and even the Washington Redskins. We have Certified Athletic Trainers who will work with you along the way to make sure that you are up to speed and ready to get back in to competition at 100%. This is crucial because the biggest risk for an injury is a previous injury. Our Certified Athletic Trainers have worked with athletes of all types and will provide treatments to get you to your top performance level.
Selective Functional Movement Assessment And
Functional Movement System
This is a total body movement assessment that picks out faulty movement patterns that can create dysfunctions leading to injuries in patients and athletes. Our Physical Therapists and Certified Athletic Trainers will work to identify the dysfunction and then give patient specific functional exercises to correct movement patterns in order to return to your sport ready to perform. This assures that an athlete or someone who likes to be active, has proper mobility and stability to perform daily movements without having pain or being at risk for an injury.
Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling. It is a highly effective treatment, unequaled in identifying and eliminating pain emanating from spasms in muscle tissue. The technique uses a “dry” needle, one without medication or injection, inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle, known as trigger points.
Our Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists will advance and challenge you to achieve your ultimate sports goals. Whether it be returning to sports or honing and mastering the skills you already have, we can help. With sports performance training we will mimic movement patterns and provide functional exercises related to your sport. The idea of sports performance training is touted as being able to duplicate or imitate a specific skill or aspect of one’s sport or activity in the weight room or training atmosphere. These sports performance training sessions go beyond just traditional lifts or exercises. This will include picking apart any deficiencies you have and addressing them with mobility exercises, speed, and agility drills, functional lifts, and specific strengthening exercises to target your weaknesses.
Golf Specific Physical Therapy
Our Titleist Certified Medical Professional will perform a golf specific movement screen and video swing analysis to break down your individual swing mechanics and movement patterns. Specific interventions and treatment techniques will be used to create more consistency and power in your swing along with decreasing pain. This will include mobility and stability exercises along with golf specific strengthening.
